Internships - Professional Experience
Facebook Facebook Follow us on Twitter

At both of the Australian campus' (Adelaide and Sydney) students undertake a Professional Experience employment program with Le Cordon Bleu partner companies across Australia and, in some cases, abroad. Students' Professional Experience program is over 6 month periods working in world class resorts, kitchens, restaurants and convention centres.

The exciting and challenging opportunities are facilitated by the Professional Development Department for regions across the country - from far north Queensland where the majestic Great Barrier Reef draws tourists from across the globe, to the regional Australian destinations such as Uluru, Alice Springs and Broome to cosmopolitan city centres such as the Arts capital of Australia, Melbourne or our largest and most vibrant city, Sydney while some even head to the wild, wild west to Perth, Western Australia.

International work placement opportunities are also available to students in Canada, China, London, Singapore, Thailand, USA and Scotland to name a few. View some of our participating properties.

"The calibre of students from Le Cordon Bleu is nothing short of excellent" Paul Malloy - Human Resources Manager, Novotel Adelaide

Professional Experience

Workplace experience is a critical component of the Le Cordon Bleu Bachelor degree. To complement the theoretical study components, each student is required to undertake two 6 months of professional experience in Stage 2 & Stage 4 (20-22 weeks). Professional Experience placements are negotiated by Le Cordon Bleu and aim to meet the specific requirements of the individual student. Placements in Australia are fully paid in accordance with local legislation - payment for Professional Experience in other countries will be dependant on specific legislation.

During the placements, students are employed to work in the following areas as examples:

  • Food and Beverage Attendants
  • Housekeeping Attendants
  • Kitchen Hands, Porters (including Night Porter)
  • Front Office (in any position including Night Audit/Porter)
